Promptu Previews ShoutOUT for Android at PayPal X Innovate 2009
Promptu Systems Corporation today demonstrated an Android version of its ShoutOUT voice-to-text mobile phone application powered by PayPal X, the world's first truly global payments platform.

ShoutOUT for Android, now scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2010, is Promptu's first mobile voice-to-text application to incorporate PayPal's new Adaptive Payments APIs for giving users secure, easy-to-use payment options while on the go.

Like Promptu's forthcoming ShoutOUT for iPhone, ShoutOUT for Android lets users dictate messages in fluent, natural speech, instead of typing on the phone's touch-screen keypad.
Fully automated transcriptions of SMS messages or updates to Facebook and Twitter are returned in real-time and can then be reviewed, edited and appended before sending.

By using voice as the interface, ShoutOUT is the most intuitive and natural alternative to the awkward process of entering text on a mobile phone.

"PayPal's Adaptive Payments will give our users a super easy way to purchase ShoutOUT voice credits in-app with a system they already know and trust," said Scott Maddux, Promptu vice president of product marketing.

"Having mobile developers like Promptu take a great idea and get paid for it is another example of how PayPal X is an easy cross platform solution for mobile payments," said Osama Bedier, PayPal vice president of platform. "PayPal X takes care of the payments complexity, allowing our developers to focus on their great ideas."

Part of the PayPal X platform, the Adaptive Payments API is a set of building blocks that gives developers the tools to create highly customized payment services. The API will change where and how people can make payments, how recipients get compensated, and more.
