Our Team
Our investment team has over a century of combined experience in entrepreneurial operations and principal investing. We’ve been the entrepreneur, balancing the demands of meeting payroll while fueling expansion; we’ve been the top executive at a publicly traded company, seeking growth through acquisition; and we’ve been the patient investor, challenging projections and celebrating new account wins. We seek to leverage these diverse perspectives and experiences to advance the goals of our companies.
Jim Caccavo / Founder and Managing General Partner
Jim is a proven entrepreneur with deep operating and financial experience. Prior to forming Steelpoint, Jim was the Managing Director of Moore Capital Management’s Private Equity Group. Before joining Moore in 1999, he was president and CEO of Tickets.com. From 1988 to 1996, Jim was a founder and senior executive of Sullivan Communications, helping to build it into a leading graphic arts company. He operated several business units for Sullivan, including: software packaging and distribution; digital imaging; and a special effects business he founded. Jim began his career in finance at Merrill Lynch and GTE Corporation.

Jim holds a B.S. in Economics and Finance from the University of Scranton.

Jim Caccavo
Jim Sullivan / Operating Partner
Jim has over 30 years of management experience in the communications industry. Most recently he served as Chairman & CEO of Printable Technologies a software company serving the corporate procurement and publishing markets. Prior to Printable, he was the founder, Chairman & CEO of Sullivan Communications, a $700 million graphic arts and promotional advertising company serving the retail, newspaper, magazine, book and software industries. Previously, he served as President & CEO of Maxwell Communications building that company from a startup to a $1 billion graphic arts and publishing company. Jim began his career with R. R. Donnelley & Sons in sales and rose through the ranks to become President of Donnelley’s Magazine and Book Groups.

Jim attended the University of Maryland and the Harvard University Advanced Management Program.

Jim Sullivan
Timothy Broadhead / Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer
Tim is a senior executive with strong financial and operating experience and has a successful track record with SMB’s. Prior to joining Steelpoint, Tim was the CFO and EVP of Operations for Personnel Concepts, a B2B direct marketing company that he helped grow into the industry leader which was later sold to Brady Corporation. Prior to Personnel Concepts, Tim spent the previous 5 years as the CFO of The Stichler Group, a privately held architecture and engineering services firm, and Tachyon, Inc., a privately held internet infrastructure start-up company created to deliver broadband internet access via satellite to the enterprise. Tim started his career in the beginning of 1994 at Deloitte & Touche LLP, one of the world’s largest public accounting firms where he spent 6 years at various consultant levels including Manager.

Tim earned a B.S. in Business-Accounting from San Diego State University and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of California.

Timothy Broadhead
Garrett Potter / Managing Director
Garrett has a diverse background in corporate finance and operations working with companies ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500. At Steelpoint, Garrett sits on the board for several portfolio companies and is responsible for sourcing new investments for the fund. He has also served as interim CFO for two Steelpoint investments. Before joining Steelpoint, Garrett was a Principal and lead advisor for investment banking firm Shoreline Partners, where he led M&A and financing transactions for middle market businesses across a variety of industries. Prior to joining Shoreline, Garrett held a senior finance position with BAE Systems, a leading global aerospace and defense company, where his responsibilities included strategic financial planning and corporate development. Garrett began his career working in an operational role for a small non-profit organization.

Garrett graduated summa cum laude from San Diego State University with a B.S. in Finance and M.S. in Accounting. He is also a former licensed securities representative with FINRA.
